Показана роль Сергея Михайловича Навашина, Эдварда Бэбкока и Ледьярда Стеббинса в построении экспериментальных оснований эволюционного синтеза на ботаническом материале. Изложена история формирования взглядов Л. Стеббинса на роль гибридизации и полиплоидии в эволюционном процессе у растений. Рассмотрены гениальные предвидения Л. Стеббинса о роли полного удвоения геномов в расширении изменчивости, получить доказательства которых стало возможным только с началом использования методов геномики.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The paper concisely reviews the history of establishment of the idea on evolutionary synthesis involving plant objects and its experimental justification. The roles of S. Navashin, E. Babcock, and G.L. Stebbins in the construction of experimental background for evolutionary synthesis involving botanical material are described.
